room at 11 o’clock: then we
had toy balloons and noisy
twisters – while the orchestra
played lively airs.

Tuesday Jan. 1″ 1929.
Weather about the same with a
little nothing. Not much sunshine
played bridge before and after lunch
and in the evening.

Wednesday Jan 2″
Rather a gray day – not much
sunshine until late afternoon
then a glorious sunset –
we have a giant on board –
a Norwegian – John Aasen [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Aasen]
who is 7ft 8in – 38 years old
and who with his manager
is on his way to Kobe Japan
to exhibit himself at a
fair there –
The officers of the steamship
are pleasant and efficient.
