a queer??? old place – with its
shrines, its terrible dragon –
its crooked bridges ??? the
muddy moat – its ???
stands – the dirt and mud
and p???ty standing out
every where.
Returning to the station
we landing for the launch
and entered the latter and
while the men sttled with
the guide the launch started
and they were left behind
while I returned to the steamer
After dinner called in Mr. +
Mrs. Firestone and was glad
to have a good nights rest as
the noise of the loading pre-
vented much rest the night
before.
Wednesday. Jan 23″ –
Arose in good time after
a refreshing rest –
We sail at 11 A. M.
