at the side of the car –
we made good time: the
scenery was interesting.
When we arrived, at Suez, there
were mountains close to the
shore on one side- but the country
from Cairo to Alexandria
is very flat very rich soil and
apparently every inch cultivated.
Very many peasants working
in the fields and seemingly
whole families working
together. Some fields were green
and beautiful while others were
being plowed and made ready.
The houses in little villages
were huddled to-gether with
no semblance of any yard
or garden, and usually no trees.
We made but four stops and
arrived at Alexandria at 11.15.
