The young student who sat at the table next to Annis in the dining room was James Oliver Curwood Jr. Son of the famous novelist of the same name, who had died just two years prior. She incorrectly assumed that he was 21, but in January of 1929, he would have just turned 18.
The other student with him, “Miss Ford”, was Helen Ford… who became Helen Ford Curwood in the summer of 1929.
Sadly, James died in a plane in a tragic plane crash just a year later, at the age of 19.
