Colombo Ceylon [Editor: Sri Lanka]
Arrived early in the
morning. Went ashore in a
tender about 9A.M. as we are
anchored off shore –
When we reached shore we found it
very hot: the sun beating down
mercilessly – so it was necessary
to keep in the shady side of
the street when possible.
A guide met us at the pier
and wished to take us to the
shops – so we engaged him for
an hour – We were disappointed
in our mail again – no letters
for us – and we haven’t heard
since we left home. ???
