on the veranda at 11 A.M.
Dr. Bade conducting – and
talking on “The history of
the ten commandments.
After lunch retired to nap
and loaf for a time –
Now about dinner time
there is a nice breeze – but
the humidity continues.
Some of the new passengers
have brought on a monkey
and quite a number of
bird cages; containing birds
of various kinds.
This morning we passed close
to the northern part of the
Island of Sumatra – as we
went out into the Indian
Ocean : We occasionally pass
islands – but for the most
part are out of sight of land
with a smooth sea and gentle
