Then we inquired the way to
visit “the Peak”.
Took “rick shaws” to the
funicular railway station
Entered a car and gradually
climbed 1800 ft. to the top of
“The Peak” where we had a fine
view of the harbor – mountains,
and homes of English people
living on the terraces all
the way up. At the top was a
fine large hotel called “The
Peak” – from whose verandas
we enjoyed some magnificent
views.
Returned to the City – met
Mr. Winkler + Mr. Soriel on
the street – The former had
just purchased an immense
Chinese hat + so Grandpa
bought one like it to take
home to Geo. to play with,
As I was very tired returned
to the steamer and Geo.
