Transcription

heat – In front of the fire place were
set four small tables for lunching???
We were seated and a very polite
Chinese waiter came to serve
us – We enjoyed a most de-
licious and appetizing
luncheon – then placed our names in the guest book
warmed ourselves at the grate
and departed walking to the
hotel in a bitter cold wind
and a drizzling rain.

At 3 P.M. we were joined by
Dr. + Mrs. Bade – Mr. + Mrs. Firestone
Mr. Winkler and Mr. Sonil:
then accompanied by a guide
we took “rickshaws” to see the
“old china town”, – In about
fifteen minutes we arrived –
dismissed our “rickshaws” and
walked through the congested
district as no vehicles are
allowed there. It was all
very interesting as well as
ancient – and no doubt if
the weather had been bright we
would have seen it much more
crowded, but it certainly was
