and the one opposite one of
our portholes is nearly filled
seemingly with motor cars
of many makes boxed for shipment.
These huge boxes are handled
so 2 easily with an immense
crane – and are filled two, three
and four deep for a distance
of 3 or 400 ft. + perhaps more –
The tonnage handled at this port is almost unbelievable
and no wonder it is called
one of the two distributing
points of the world. The other
one being Balboa –
The loading machinery of
the steamer works until
midnight and starts again
about day light.
It seemed this morning as
if there were a hundred
different languages spoken
out side our stateroom.
