90 miles per hour – with  now
and then going to 95 miles per
hour and back again to 80 or 85
the latter speed being the average
In about an hour the fog ob-
scured the ground so one could
not see just when we flew
out over the sea: but soon we
saw the sea as smooth and
quiet as a lake –  saw tiny
ships making a ??? streak
of foam on the water.
Passed directly over a large
ocean going steamer – and
met the sister plane of the
“Silver Wing” on her way to France.
After 40 minutes we saw distinctly
the coast line of England and
in a few moments we had flown
over it.
2 hours and fifteen minutes
after we took the air in France.
