sandals have been tied on over
our shoes – as the muhammadans
were chanting and calling
for prayers – then we entered
the Mosque – the largest and
most beautiful we have ever
seen – Marble floors covered
with immense turkish rugs
in a rich shade of dark red
with but few but huge figured
design. The Mosque was a
glitter of crystal – having 373
lights and 7 huge chains
??? – The stained windows
and huge decorated domes
were marvelously beautiful.
Over the entrance was a
balcony for the use of the
women of the harem – as they
are not allowed on the lower
floor – There are no seats in
the mosque.
We look through a lattice
