The road was fine, smooth and not
dusty unless we met other cars.
the road was marked by upright
stones at the side edges all
the way.
The weather was cold and windy
and we nearly froze.
We saw many camels – and
stopped by the way to make a
picture of an Arab police with
gun and mounted on a camel.
Other parties from the steam-
ship were near us all the way.
We arrived in Cairo – “Victoria
Hotel” in time for lunch.
Cairo is a beautiful city of
one million and a quarter
population – fine streets
and buildings. The people
walk all over the streets as
in other tropical places.
The men wearing skirts and
